Chartwell House and Folk Week Join Forces for 2nd Annual Folk Concert
Chartwell House by Boutique Care Homes, in proud association with Folk Week 2024, is thrilled to announce the return of the Seniors Folk Concert for its second year. The much-anticipated event will take place on August 11 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm at The Sarah Thorne Theatre, Fordoun Road, Broadstairs, CT10 2JW.
Building on the success of last year’s groundbreaking ‘Dementia Friendly Folk’ concert, this year’s Seniors Folk Concert promises to be an equally enchanting celebration of music and community. With ticket prices set at £2.50 for children and £5.00 for adults, the event is designed to be accessible to everyone, ensuring that a diverse audience can come together to enjoy the transformative power of folk music.
The concert will feature the return of Gentle Ceilidh with Krista & The Wood Urchins, who captivated audiences last year with their lively and heartwarming performances. Their unique blend of folk melodies and engaging rhythms will once again provide a joyful and immersive experience for attendees of all ages.
This year’s concert continues Chartwell House’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, with a special focus on creating a welcoming environment for individuals living with dementia. Music has long been recognised for its profound impact on mental health and emotional well-being, and this event aims to harness that power to foster connection, joy, and shared experiences.
“Music is a universal language that has the remarkable ability to reach deep within us, evoke memories, and create meaningful connections,” said Jude Coveney, Admissions Manager at Chartwell House. “Our goal with the Seniors Folk Concert is to offer a space where everyone, particularly those living with dementia, can experience the joy of music in a supportive and engaging environment.”
The importance of music and socialisation for older adults cannot be overstated. For individuals living with dementia, music can be a powerful tool to stimulate cognitive function, evoke positive emotions, and reduce feelings of isolation. The Seniors Folk Concert is thoughtfully designed to cater to these needs, ensuring that attendees of all abilities can enjoy and participate in the festivities.
Chartwell House and Folk Week 2024 are dedicated to celebrating the rich traditions of folk music while also addressing the evolving needs of the community. The success of last year’s concert highlighted the profound impact that such events can have, and this year’s concert aims to build on that foundation, continuing to bring the magic of music to those who need it most.
