Resident April Fühle Leads Boutique Care Homes in World Record Attempt
Residents at Boutique Care Homes have officially launched an ambitious challenge to break what is believed to be the world record for the most cartwheels completed in a care home setting — a figure currently standing at 10,425, according to the little-known but highly esteemed Care Home Kinetic Records Authority (CHKRA).
Spanning homes in Shepperton, Newmarket and Broadstairs, the challenge has quickly gained momentum. Residents have been seen practising moves in gardens, lounges, and bistros, with makeshift training zones, personalised warm-up routines, and even synchronised spinning trials. Safety, of course, remains at the heart of operations, with a full team of spotters, foam mats, and an “emergency biscuit break” protocol firmly in place.
Leading the charge is 94-year-old April, who claims her cartwheel technique has remained strong since her days in post-war theatre career. Miss Fühle said; “It’s all about core strength and a splash of determination,” she says, before limbering up for her third practice attempt of the morning.
Reflecting on the challenge, Carl Roberts of Boutique Care Homes, commented; “We always say our care is so good, it’s unexpected — and I think cartwheels probably weren’t on anyone’s care plan this month. But that’s the beauty of life in our homes: when residents have an idea, no matter how energetic or acrobatic, we’ll find a way to support it.”
Boutique Care Homes is known for delivering exceptional residential, dementia, and short-stay care in beautifully designed, welcoming environments. While a Guinness World Record might still be up for grabs, what’s already been achieved is far more meaningful: smiles, confidence, and community spirit.
